About

In an nutshell, I’m roughly 8 months pregnant, just finished my fine art degree, and am doing a 4 week residency at Ross Creek Centre for the Arts – a beautiful spot about an hour and half from our home in Halifax, Nova Scotia (close enough for any labour emergency – hopefully).

Normally my blogging life revolves around the endless renovating of our old house:

But for the next 4 weeks, it’s going to be all about my art practice (you can see more of it here: www.carlybutler.com – though part of what I need to do is update my web-site while I have some time).  Apparently once you have a baby indulging in 4 solid weeks of art making just isn’t possible.  Go figure.

So, this is my last ‘hurrah’ – at least for a while.

Apart from the more involved projects I’ll be working on that were part of my residency proposal, I’m also going to try and make a work of art every day for the next 4 weeks.  Some might lead to a more finished work later, some of it might be cringe-worthy awful.  It doesn’t matter.  The point is to keep me working, keep me motivated.  Let’s see what happens…
